2015 Oregon Bride Best Of Bride Awards!

It was a hot, steamy, fabulous night at Eastside Exchange, a rare chance to meet and greet other wedding vendors under the stars, raise a glass and celebrate our success. Speaking of, we won! I say "we" because it certainly would be impossible without my talented team and the lovely ladies at The English Dept. Thanks to everyone who voted for me for Best Dress Designer...I feel very honored to be among such special company.

Painted Desert Collection launch party!

I've felt very inspired this spring and have been having so much fun designing my new Painted Desert collection. After weeks of top secret experiments and explosions I am very excited to post this preview! Instead of a fashion show, we threw a desert-themed open house and launch party at the Elizabeth Dye studio -- it gave me a chance to host and thank the many people (friends, fellow designers, photographers, models, makeup artists) who have collaborated with me these past few years (and just generally rip it up with the people I like best). Thank you to everyone who came out and partied on a lovely spring evening with us! I raise my prickly pear margarita to you. xoElizabeth

Italian Influence: a special project

I was honored to be asked to create a garment for the Portland Art Museum's Italian Style: Fashion Since 1945 exhibition. Curated by Sonnet Stanfill for the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, this collection charts the rise of the Italian fashion industry from the tattered post-war period to the thriving present. The museum asked six Portland designers to each highlight a particular technical component of fashion design -- mine was "Dressmaking." The gown below is built on a traditional boned corselet, creating an internal structure that allows the outer layers of the gown to float effortlessly on the body. For fabrics, I used an iridescent embroidered tulle in a crystal pattern that I purchased from the estate of a European bridal designer who closed her atelier in Athens in the 1980s. It's such a special fabric and this project was the perfect use for it. Iridescent organza, tulle and crinoline finish the skirt. This gown will be on display in the museum for the duration of the exhibit. Go say hello!

Let's go South.

I couldn't be prouder of Gabi Lee, my dear friend (and former English Dept. bridal consultant). She and her mother have teamed up to open the sweetest bridal shop south of the Mason-Dixon, and I am headed there this weekend for the grand opening and a trunk show. Cypress, sweet tea, magnolias...Atlanta, here I come!
